mazzeltov/molotov with a dose of david hasselhoff

how the heck do you spell mozzletov? masseltov mozzletoff anyway, i dont know. WARNING: RANT AHEAD so yeah, JoeD had a good point a couple blogs back in his comments about the wars in mesopotamia going on for thousands of years and prolly going on til the end of time. i agree. interestingly enough, it all seems to start and end with the jews over there. because there's not much sunnis and shiites hate more than eachother than the israelites. (why DO we call them Israelis and not Israelites anymore??) Did they really cross the Red Sea? I dunno. But they were definitely enslaved in Egypt at one point in time. and came out. and the Law came through them...you remember, with good old Moses (God's homeboy) and the ten commandments and such. Jerusalem came through the jews as well. "Jerusalem" meaning "City of peace," which is pretty ironic considering how much peace there's been in Jerusalem the past 2000 years or so. but the fact is, the jews seem to be the center of attention time and time again. look at world war 2. sure, the world was at war and the allies and the axis were at battle, but what about the jews? THEY were the ones being exterminated in concentration camps by the millions. they were the center of attention. so, according to the Jewish Bible aka the O.T. (which is the basis for the N.T. and christianity...[ever wonder why the jewish bible and the christian bible are combined in the Bible of today??]) Jeremiah the jewish prophet prophesied the destruction of jerusalem some 500 years before it happened. and i know what you're thinking - you could pull prophesy out of a mathbook if you looked for it hard enough - but check it out: [maybe im boring people to death but this stuff is vastly interesting to me but ill make it quick] checkit out. lets treat the O.T. like a storybook for the sake of argument. God is angry with the israelites (remember the story of the lightning and crazy mountain deal when Moses went up to get the ten commandments and came back down to the israelites?) So, God's angry. Moses comes in. Moses is the shepherd in a way of the people. Again and again they (the israelites) try and rebel against Moses and because of their wickeness, millions of them die in the desert wilderness (40 yrs in the desert, remember that story?). SO, Moses is about to die and is like "ya'lls fathers were buttholes and died in the desert, and if you're buttholes too, you're going to have this list of curses befall you." and he rattles off a list of curses. He says also if you're cool (the israelites) this list of blessings with happen to you. So Moses lays out the blessings and the cursings and its totally up to the israelites' free choice on what they want to do: [trust me, this is going somewhere] here's a list of the curses, which were prophecies of what would happen if they disobeyed... Prophecy of the Jews going into captivity: Deu 28:41 - Thou shalt beget (birth) sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity. Prophecy of the coming of Babylon: Deu 28:49 - The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand; Deu 28:50 - A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favour to the young: Prophecy of the siege and subsuquent destruction of Jerusalem: Deu 28:52 - And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee. (keep in mind Jerusalem didn't even exist as an Israelite city when this was "prophecied," which is documentable and historically sound - they were still wandering - so the gates and high and fenced walls prophecy was before the Israelites even had gates or high and fenced walls in the first place.) NOW Jeremiah comes along like 1000 years after Moses and the Israelites are a big mess. theyve got jerusalem but they're being super buttholes again and Jeremiah gets no respect by the people because he's prophecying unpopular things, like impending doom. so checkit: Reiteration in Jeremiah (1000 years later) of God's impending judgment on their wickedness, the coming of Babylon [which is historically accurate, the babylonian empire did destroy jerusalem, but this was written before that came to pass... also prove-able by manuscript dating and historically confirmations from other cultures' historical records]: Jeremiah speaks to the israelites in Jeremiah 5:15-17 (15)"Behold, I am bringing a nation against you from afar, O house of Israel," declares the LORD "It is an enduring nation, It is an ancient nation, A nation whose language you do not know, Nor can you understand what they say. (16)"Their quiver is like an open grave, All of them are mighty men. (17)"They will devour your harvest and your food; They will devour your sons and your daughters; They will devour your flocks and your herds; They will devour your vines and your fig trees; They will demolish with the sword your fortified cities in which you trust." Jeremiah speaks the Word of the LORD about the captivity: Jer 15:2 -"And it shall be that when they say to you, 'Where should we go?' then you are to tell them, 'Thus says the LORD: "Those destined for death, to death; And those destined for the sword, to the sword; And those destined for famine, to famine; And those destined for captivity, to captivity." Jer 15:5-7 (5)"Indeed, who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem, Or who will mourn for you, Or who will turn aside to ask about your welfare? (6) "You who have forsaken Me," declares the LORD, "You keep going backward So I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you; I am tired of relenting! (7)"I will winnow them with a winnowing fork At the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy My people; They did not repent of their ways. " Jeremiah on the siege of Jerusalem: Jer 19:9 - "I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another's flesh during the stress of the siege imposed on them by the enemies who seek their lives." Jer 19:11 -" and say to them, 'This is what the LORD Almighty says: I will smash this nation and this city just as this potter's jar is smashed and cannot be repaired. They will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room." The siege happens, Jerusalem falls - 1000 years after Moses first prophecied it as a part of the curse for disobedience, and right after Jeremiah is prophecying the same thing in accordance with the word of the jews' main homedude, Moses, and the blessings and cursings set forth by God through him. Jer 38:28 - "And Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guard until the day Jerusalem was captured." Jer 39:1 - "This is how Jerusalem was taken: In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his whole army and laid siege to it." sieges werent pretty, and this one was long and drawn out. many many people were killed, famine was setting in for how long the israelites had been stuck inside jerusalem, and this was the end of jerusalem and beginning of jewish captivity for the next like 70 years until they returned to jerusalem at the fall of the babylonian empire. ahh yes. the jews. the world has been revolving around them since the beginning, and will continue to do so to the end. how biblical. and yes, i am a serious a dork.

not a serious dork, I wish I was as well versed and educated on biblical aspects as you seem to be...props to you!

I disagree. First of all, World War II started in 1939 when Hitler invaded Poland and began exterminating the Jews. The U.S. attempted to avoid getting involved until Dec.8 1941, the day after Pearl Harbor. We declared war on 'the empire of Japan' and Hitler declared war on us. The Holocaust was not front page news, and most people remained blissfully unaware of it until newsreels made their way back home late in the war, after we began liberating the Jews (or what was left of them). It's sickening for people to continuously accuse a peaceful group of people of corrupting their economy and their 'holy land'. I was really upset to see them get evicted from their homes in Gaza. Wouldn't you say that Christianity is the center of attention? I know I run the risk of starting a religious battle on here, but I'd like to treat it as a sporting jest (after all, thats what the internet is for). The holocaust began based on Christian beliefs. The Pilgrims and the Pioneers slaughtered the American Indians, and forced what was left of them to convert to Christianity. The Spanish Inquisition slaughtered both the Mayan and the Incan cultures in the name of God. The crusades of the middle ages were a bloody means to get people to convert to Christianity. The Vatican is the most corrupt conglomerate in the world. It is Christianity that still spreads hate, ignorance, and intolerance to people of different cultures, sexual preferences, and religions.

CORRECTION: The Spanish Inquisition led to the expulsion and forced conversion of Spanish Jews and Muslims into Christianity/Catholicsm. I don't know where I got the Mayan/ Incan thing from...Time for me to dust off the history books.

I think no matter what the subject people will ALWAYS disagree when it comes to religious issues. Some people believe God is in every part of our lives and has complete control where as others tend to believe that everything is just coincidence and go as far as to say that God doesn't even exist...I think it's something you have to find for yourself and if you find something that you truly believe in then more power to you, I just hate hearing people beat to death the why's and how's of religious issues, wars, etc...because no one will ever be happy with what anyone else has to say. I am a Christian and a religious person and sometimes it is hard for me to brush off certain comments made about how horrible Christianity is and all the problems it has caused but I know that it is that persons opinion, I am not out talking about how wrong the Catholics are for this and that, etc. It is just very hard for me to understand how someone can undermine someone else's beliefs so casually, I am not talking about any one person imparticular just people in general. I could never imagine telling someone that they are WRONG for believing what they do....OK there is my rant for the day!

hmm. adolf hitler was not a christian, i dont care what he said he was. if anything, i'd call him an antichrist, but definitely not a christian. in fact, christians who hate jews are ridiculous and i'd say aren't christians at all. Anyone who doesn't realize Jesus was jewish and claims to be christian but hates jews is completely and udderly ridiculous. which brings us to the next point - the catholic church. welp, the whole protestant church started (whats termed as modern "christianity" verses actual catholocism) because of Biblical violations that the catholic church was a part of. Im not catholic bashing, but its true and can be researched. Martin Luther nailed the reasons why he was breaking off from the church to the cathedral door. organized religion mixed with government is a tricky issue. yes, the spaniards conquered the third world under the guise of catholicism under the guise of Jesus but what did Jesus say? "Go out and preach to the nations." not "Go out and kill a bunch of people in my name." One can call themself a follower of christ but if the bottom line is the dollar value in the spice trade or gold currency or land, then money has become your god and what you serve, no matter what name you put on it. christianity the center of attention? Close. but not close enough. Jesus is actually the center of attention for without Jesus, there'd be no christianity. Jesus is hands down the most controversial character in world history. Easily. Buddha wasn't reputed as raised from the dead. Hare Krishna or Mohammed either. And Jesus, according to christian/jewish scripture, was prophecied in dozens of places specifically of being the messiah from the jews. most jews dont believe it, all christians should b/c thats the roots of their religion. If one were to go so far as compare different religion's scriptures, there would be worlds of difference. Underlying concept being that Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, sent by God as the atonement for the world's sins. The "way, truth, and life," and "the way to the Father is through me (Jesus)." Now, the personal opinions about such statements are aside from our current debate, our current debate being who or what is the center of attention. but look at it like this. Islam traces itself back to Abraham. The Jews consider their patriarch Abraham. Christianity is rooted in Judaism (whether jews or anybody else like it or not, its true), and therefore considers Abraham as it's patriarch as well. Abraham had two sons, Isaac (the blessed one) and Ishmael (the cursed one). Islam and Judaism fight over which one is the cursed and which the blessed, both believing the blessed to be themselves. Which again, brings the centralized debate back to Jew vs Arab. Which gets even more interesting when you start bringing in the promised land idea and the fact that the muslim holy temple now stands on the historic sight of Solomon's temple in Jerusalem, the jews traditional and historical main site of worship. The muslims overran jerusalem and the crusaders that were there at the time. Jerusalem is a city divided, all three major religions laying claim to it. in closing, there's a major difference between "Christianity" and Christianity. the "hearers" and the "doers." James 1:22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. and again james 1:26If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless. 27Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. *this statement is including people who call themselves christians but discredit themselves by the crap they spew out of their mouths*
TheJoeD on
You know your shit man...It's good to see a Christian that stands behind their beliefs with evidence rather than making it a "my God is better than your God" situation. You should think about writing for a living.
lisakaye on
I agree with Joe, it's great to finally see someone who has educated themselves on the scriptures and knows what he's talking about as opposed to someone who is just spewing off things he heard from someone else! It's a relief to know that there are people that still study the Bible like that out there.
TheJoeD on
Whatever works for anyone is cool. For me, the greatest thing I ever did was lose my religion. Now I have every option on the table, no limitation of the fear of God. No obligations to a creator or Church or establishment. Am I going to go out and kill people? Of course not. I live by my own set of rules and beliefs which are always open for change and revamping. I just can't side with anything that believes in Creationism rather than the rational thought of evolution. Science cannot be argued with. I'm just rambling here with so real purpose...I'm quite hung over.
